Who are we? This is the first question that I ask. I bet 99.9999% of you just said, "Americans" mmhmm. Well I for one will not define myself by saying that. When I am asked who I am I will not say American plain and simple. For before we are Americans we are mothers, sisters, friends, daughters, brothers, fathers, husbands, and sons. I believe that anyone who sets foot in this country can consider themselves American but do they? No. I work for a very well-to-do East Indian family. Some of them are U.S. Citizens, they still consider themselves to be Indian. They do not call themselves Americans because they simply live here. Their culture is still Indian. That is what they are. I was told once by my manager about the Indian health care system. He said if there was a problem that you could call the doctor and they would come to your home. They took less than thirty minutes to get there and they did a wonderful job.
Once he mentioned to me that he had to have some crowns put on his teeth. He paid 100 Rupees in India. He would have paid 10,000 American dollars. Do his teeth look good you ask, why yes, yes they do. Did they anesthetize him? Yes. Did he get an infection from the dirty nasty place? NO IT WAS CLEAN. Do you realize that most of the countries on the international list that rank better than us have united health care? They are not socialist countries. The problem with our country is that the government has had such a strong hold over our judgement for so many years that their beliefs have become ours. There is a problem with that belief. The problem is, they want money. They want to know how fat their wallet will be at the end of the day. I am 100% against Obama but even I have to admit that if it is done RIGHT, United Health Care is one of the BEST things that this country could give to its citizens. If they just taxed reasonably rather than saying "Hey! He has 67 Million Dollars and lives in a 3 Million dollar home, lets tax the poor people so he can keep his money." How about saying, "You make more than they do, either donate it to a charity or give this percentage to us for tax." What I mean is, yes a tax comes off of the rich folks money but there was in fact a bill that passed that taxed the middle class people MORE than it taxed the UPPER class. Why? How about so the politicians could keep their money.
Why was the national health care idea really abolished in the early 90's? Well, there were many politicians whispering in our ears about socialism, and following in the footsteps of Hitler or Karl Marx. Above that though, there was a lot of money finding its way out of the pockets of health insurance companies and into the hands of politicians. This country is not run by its people but by a hierarchical government full or rich men and women who make all the decisions. Why is it that we don't question their motives more? Is it because they put on their angel faces and tell us they are just like us? Let me tell you about that, you are nothing like me. I am a single mother trying to make it in a country that bases everything you do on money. We wonder why no one can get a job in this god forsaken country, did you think it might have something to do with the fact that it can cost upwards of 75,000 dollars a year if you include room, board, and books. That alone is about 6 times more than what I make in one year. I am a desk clerk at a hotel and a part time substitute teacher. I want to be a full time Elementary school teacher but I cannot afford to go to college. I will not put myself thousands into debt just to go to college. OH but that might be worth it right cause then i will be making all the money back NO. That is not how it works you see, then my credit will be wrecked. I wouldn't be able to buy a home (a small one) once I got married and not only that but if you need to buy a car you can forget it. You can't get a credit card at my age without a lot of money. You can't get loans from the bank. Well, we all know our country is pretty poverty ridden, so why is it that when there is a homeless man sitting on a corner we just make him move and build a McDonald's in his place?
Do you realize we are NOT on the top of the list for longevity of life? We have a higher rate of cancer and other health problems like diabetes than place like the UK and Canada. The NHS (National Health Service) of England was founded right after WWII and why? Well, they lost thousands of people in the war with Germany when Hitler wanted to take over their territories. There were so many lives lost and so many injured, so many shops and homes destroyed. No one had anything. NO ONE. They came together. They united and the decision to all pay a general tax to provide health care to all the members and citizens (later even tourists). This health care covered everything. The only thing they asked when you went into the hospital was, "What is your name, and birthday? Where does it hurt?" They charge the same amount of money for every medication 6.65 pounds per medication no matter how many pills or what the medication is. On top of that if the prescribed patient is under 18 or over 65 the medication is completely FREE. OH OH OH OH OH WAIT! Nothing is free this I know. Neither are we! That though, is another subject for another time. No what I want to say now is, How much taxes do we pay? Go on tell me. A LOT right? Well what do those taxes go to? I don't know WHAT they go to but I do know WHERE, they go straight into the pockets of your favorite politicians. That's right folks, the president get $400,000 a year to make us feel all warm and fuzzy inside as well as comfort us into believing he actually has something to do with the outcome of any bill or law. He gets $400,000 plus a general expense account of $50,000, also expense accounts for entertainment, a separate entertainment account for special official presidential functions, he also get a $1,000,000 dollar back up so if he goes over quota on anything he can dip into that money.
What is so wrong with Universal National Health Care? I was watching CNN and heard the man say, it shouldn't be given out it should be earned. I work my butt off all the time and yet I work and get nothing in return from the government. Oh you say, well you get taxes back in the first part of the year. Yeah and what do you think I use that money for? Necessities, that money helps me get caught up on the bills and pays for a couple months of medication. How is National Health Care (NHC) going to make our country Socialistic. I don't understand that concept. I realize that you have been told "oh, if we join together then we will be like the Nazis." but is this really true? Not really, no. It is not true though the government officials want to tell us that is it because they want to keep on getting that extra money. What have we become when our government can be bought off to do whatever someone else wants? We are NOT the strongest or the richest country in the world. We are the weakest and the poorest. I love the United States of America and I love living here but that does NOT mean that I have to love the government or the way they make us live.
